Conference Goal We are convinced that the topic that this conference aims to address is extremely important and will hopefully inspire and nourish the chain of social awareness, technological impact and women empowerment that is present within the Stanford community. We are also excited about the networking opportunity and ideas that will be provided by and brought up during this conference.
About WEE WEE was founded in 2004 and has grown in size and departmental involvement through the years. The organization has fostered a sense of community among women students in EE through events including speakers, community service, social events. It has also provided opportunities for professional development and networking for women engineers. It has served the EE department at both graduate and undergraduate levels - by providing a wide variety of events open to all EE students e.g the quals mixer, dissertation-writing workshop, mentorship programs, and panel discussions on career decisions.
The mission of the Women in Electrical Engineering (WEE) student group is to inspire, engage, encourage, and empower women in Electrical Engineering at Stanford for success in their professional and personal lives. Toward this end, WEE organizes several events around the year that can help provide opportunities for networking, mentorship, career development and, a sense of community among graduate and undergraduate women in Electrical Engineering at Stanford.
About IEEE WiE
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. The mission of IEEE WIE is to inspire, engage, encourage, and empower IEEE women worldwide. IEEE WIE envisions a vibrant community of IEEE women and men innovating the world of tomorrow. In 2011, Stanford IEEE student group founded IEEE WiE affinity group at Stanford to initiate and support outreach for women in engineering groups. It has successfully organized more than five events in collaboration with other student groups over the past year.
